Rand Paul on X: Alexander Hamilton argued that a national debt, if it is not excessive, would be a national blessing. At $40 trillion dollars and more than 120% of GDP, we are a long way past not excessive. American has been entirely free of debt exactly once, briefly, in 1835. I’m tired of hearing that balancing the budget is radical while borrowing another trillion a year is treated as the moderate position. It’s time we get serious about our mounting debt.
